Hi all,
Ok, WHERE do you buy your tone woods?? id there anywhere in the state to purchase quality woods like mahogany-figured maple-ebony etc..... Rockler has wood but the size is always to small for bodies, tops.

I attended a school in St. Louis and there seemed to be many places there! Hibdon was AWESOME. (so if anyone is thinking of buying online from them i HIGHLY recomend them)

I just like to choose my wood from a selection rather than buy over the internet.

Grant Goltz is in Hackensak MN , he's a member here and at the Luthierforum.
Just Google his name and you'll get several hits. All round Jack of all trades and master of many.
And a great guy to boot.

Grant is certainly one option, but you need not look much farther than the top of the page you are reading. There are at least 13 tonewood suppliers listed there with direct links, and all of whom are sponsors to this site, and will bend over backwards to do right by you in getting the wood you are looking for, and will support you with information to boot.

Sound Clips of most of my guitars

I get the majority of my stuff from Walter Lipton at Euphonon. Some from Bob C at RC Tonewoods. Lutz from Shane at High Mountain Tonewoods. I have not bought from anyone in MN at this point. The Rockler in Mpls out by Ridgdale has some tonewood and the owner has worked with Brian Applegate. There is also a luthier that works at the Rockler on lyndale near Lake. Can't remember his name. They both would be good resources for wood in MN.

If you want to go sort through stacks of hardwood planks in the Twin Cities, the place to go is Youngblood Lumber Co. at 1335 Central Ave. NE in Minneapolis. They have a Web site at http://www.youngbloodlumber.com/. As far as I know, they offer the best selection of hardwood in the area.

I'll have to plan a day and stop at the Rockler's also!

Youngblood won't have much top grade material left after Grant visits there. If you wanna scratch and sniff tonewood in Minnesota, I do think Grant is your best bet.
