Egan's Guitar! After setting the guitar up, it's functioning much better. I say functioning, versus sounding, as this small of a guitar, built as I did, will never sound great. But the intonation is much better, and if played softly (not overdriven) it doesn't sound TOO bad. (Try telling tah to a 3 year old!) I look at it more as a technique tutorial for me. I enjoyed every step of the build immensely, and I can't wait to get started on my first full sized guitar!

So here it is:

Bububinga back and sides
Sitka Spruce top
Birch neck (what a pain to carve!)
Bloodwood fretboard, bridge, binding, and rosette

Filled with z-poxy, neck tru-oiled, body sprayed with oxford USL.

Overall, I'm happy with the look. Make tons of mistakes, fixed most of them. Learned a to about what to do, and what NOT to do when I build my guitar. Learned a lot of the whys... "why do we do this, and why don't we do that... Ohhhh, I get it now".

I haven't posted a lot, but I've learned a ton from everybodies posts.

Thanks so much... I'll be back for more!

Colin

Congrats Colin, and also congrats to Egan on his first guitar. This reminds me of one I built a couple of years ago for my grandson Garrett. Here's a pic of Garrett doing some shredding on his.

Great job, Colin! I know exactly what you mean about learning "what not to do"... don't even ask. But very nice looking guitar! What's next?
