This is East Indian Rosewood. Does anyone know what this powdery white stuff could be that was stuck in some of the pores? It was a big pain to scrape it out with a razor knife, but it came out OK.

I had a teak board resawn for a furniture project. After the board sat for a while, white deposits came to the fresh surface and some even bubbled out. These were removed with a rag and water. I expect, in this instance, the white material was some kind of sap. The point is, there could be more than one source, so try different things, including possibly a wet rag.
