or even 4-piece! Sometimes a 4-piece with a bookmatched wedge shape in the middle, looks even better than a 3-piece to me.

If you also have 4-1/2" to 5" wide x 32"+ quartersawn pieces for sides, I think you found a stash.

I was thinking for a plain wood like locust that a center wedge of curly or bird's eye maple would look nice.
