As I take measurements and prepare to finalize, hopefully, the action on my most recent build I find myself again taking down the saddle almost exactly the same as I do on every guitar. After stringing up (within the first day or two) I generally set my actions all to 7/64ths down to 5.5/64ths at the twelfth. Generally after about a week I'll have to take off, on average, 4/64ths (I know that's 1/16" but my brain functions better staying in 64ths when referring to action/setups, etc.) :? to bring it back down after the settling in period. I shoot for a final string height above the top just in front of the bridge, between the G and D of 1/2" plus or minus 1/32". This is, of course, almost always for bluegrass flatpicking setup.

Just curious what "settling in" you guys see and what your string hts in front of the bridge are?

thanks.
