i'm looking for plain jane redwood tops and wondering what sources you use. most vendors are selling curly redwood, sinker redwood, old growth, and on and on.
i'm just looking for 'regular' - non-magical, reasonably priced redwood.
thanks for any help.

Phil,

Dave Maize at maizeguitars.com also has non-figured redwood soundboards,
described as being sourced from driftwood and dismantled buildings.

Good Luck,

Eric

LMI's redwood tops are from Hank Mauel. I have two and they're terrible. Terrible I'm telling you. They ring for days, have beautiful color, lots of medulary character, etc. :D If you're building an OM or smaller guitar, call LMI and ask for one of the tona bossa tops from Hank. I just don't want them to run out before I can get a few more.

I too can vouch for Hank's redwood. I'm building a guitar with one of his great even grained tops now and it is stunning wood.

Phil, I don't know the in's and out's of how it works, but I know LMI received a lot of their stock from him.
