Went to an auction, children of an old wodwoworker. Had to leave early, left my name for the little bits of rosewood diwscovered there. Turns out this 5 bay garage full of wood, old furniture parts and other junk, was sold in lots. Folks paid $5 for a floor to ceiling lot, took a couple items and walked away. Left the guy in a REAL lurch. So woodworker's club, volunteer firemen, family, & I are helping clear out. I've spent 11 hours harvesting great finds, and have a long way to go
50 lbs EI Rosewood
LOTS of mahogany (mostly from furniture, state capital trim, etc)
hundreds of square feet of veneer; Braz RW, EI RW, mahogany, walnut, curly maple etc)
bunch of spruce (buried into OLD shutters, boards, etc.)
Large (dark) cedar board, misc cedar
Solid mahogany crown and other molding
Maple (mostly furniture harvested)
I go back today and go throught the 2nd story storeage again. I block plane off the stuff that's indiscenable. So today I'm hoping to find more bacewood and mahogany. There's a bunch of maple I'll haul today too. He's keeping lumber though.
Happy day! Several hundred dollars worth of wood for the price of three
s and som help! And some ot the best wood I've ever seen. Can't wait to fire up the 15" planer and start processing! THis is WAY more fun than buying. More work, but more rewarding. YeeHaw!
