I didn't fill the tiny gap between the side purfling and the side (lacewood) before finishing and now there is a visible line in many places where the nitro lacquer has sunken into the gap. Would drop filling be enough for this or should I sand the sides back down to bare wood, fill, and refinish?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Chuck

Chuck;
Do you mean a gap as in NOT glued?
Or a low spot in the finish?

Mike

Mike,
Just a low spot in the finish. The binding and side purfling are well glued. I'd say the the deepest spots are maybe .005" or a little deeper. I use the CA method for gluing the bindings and usually any places that don't get filled completely are filled with epoxy when I fill the pores on the sides and back. This is my first experience with lacewood and it didn't seem to need filling, so I didn't. I guess I'll either need to be more careful with the CA when gluing, or make sure to do a fill with epoxy on the sides. The top and back came out great with no such issues.

Thanks,
Chuck

Scuff sand, fill with epoxy, scrape and sand off ALL excess epoxy, spray a couple more topcoats.
