I recently completed #4. As with the previous 3, this guitar was completed while making prolific use of the forum's search function at almost every step. If you have posted here, most likely I have read your post and considered how I might use that information to better build my guitars. This is the first one that really feels like a guitar. Next one is already under way. Thanks to all for sharing your experiences and thanks for looking.

Specs:
Back and sides - Black Walnut my paternal grandfather cut and milled 60'ish years ago and never built with
Top - Engelmann Spruce from RC Tonewoods
Neck - Mahogany from RC
Bridge and Fingerboard - Ebony from RC
Fingerboard inlay - Walnut and dyed maple from pen blank
Rosette - lacewood, walnut, dyed maple and black pearl
Headstock Inlay - unknown driftwood from well worn candle my maternal grandfather made 30 years ago.
Finish - Done by Tony Ferguson, and worth every penny. (Thanks Steve Kinnaird for that advice!!!)

Woohooo!
Is that sweet or what?
Some very original and unique elements - the neck inlay and rosette are stellar!
Also like how you integrated the backstrip and the heel...
Great stuff!

Man, that looks great. That walnut is gorgeous! Your craftsmanship looks superb. What can you tell us about the shape? Is that a Grand Concert-type thing, or an original design? I also enjoy the vintage feel of the headstock.

Great looking guitar, well done. I love the vine style inlay on the fretboard, especially with the contrasting leaves. The back stripe is superb as well. Great job, and hopefully your next one looks even better.

I've been troying around with a nice vine inlay on a fretboard, but since I don't normally do inlays of that extent it seems like a daunting task. However, after seeing how that one turned out I might just give it s shot. Again, well done.

Looks nice Donald! [:Y:] That is some rich looking walnut. And the inlay work looks great. :)

Thanks for all the kind words. I have to give my girlfriend credit for the inlay design. My original drawing looked something just shy of awful, so she demoted me from designer / labor to just straight labor.

Ken to answer your question regarding the body, this guitar is loosely based on the Kinkead plans which I believe are pretty close to an OM. (Bear in mind I've only built the one style and am not at all knowledgeable on all the sizes and styles of the trade. Maybe someone else more experienced and familiar with the plans can chime in.) Each guitar I've built has gotten further away from the Kinkead plans based on what I've learned here and through other local builders. External dimensions are pretty close to plans, but brace size, carving, and multiple means and methods have changed since #1.

Again, thanks for looking.
