I have a guitar with a laquer finish that has some haze and swirls. I would like to use micromesh to knock the haze/swirls back a bit, and have all grits on hand. I would be grateful to receive any advice, procedures, or tips. I am also wondering if I should be using water, or some other lubricating fluid.

Use a polish/rubbing compound and a wool pad to remove haze and swirls, not MM.

Can't answer your question about the swirl marks but for a Micro Mesh lubricant, I've had good luck with soapy water. Try to use a soap that doesn't have additives like skin moisturizers. The lube will keep it from loading up.

The top 3 grits of Micro Mesh will get it pretty glassy so the final polishing/buffing shouldn't take much work after.

Thanks for the replies. One of the reasons I want to use micromesh is that I have some familiarity with using it (usually on bare wood, and smaller objects) whereas using Meguiars or something else on the guitar would be entirely new to me, and I don't want to experiment that much. Besides, my understanding is that Micromesh is the gold standard with respect to finishing, and it would be hard for me to believe that there are no techs or luthiers using it to knock back swirls or haze. I did not want to go directly to a polish without correcting some of the primary haze.
