I’ve had a slight color change happen on several guitars, including a Koa guitar that I am just finishing. Most of the time once done sanding the binding and sides and pore filling or applying the first coat of finish the color change disappears (especially if using. Pore filler that “wets” out the wood and makes the grain pop, like epoxy or oil based paste filler). I have often wondered if it would be salvageable, but so far have always had decent luck. Hope yours works out as well.

one piece of misinformation is that you may assume all heat blankets are the same
I use 5 watts per sq in and they get over 400F in a hurry and in 10 min will scorch wood.
use a cooking thermometer . Pay attention that you don't go too hot too long. Once I hit 375 F I
set temp to below 275 for 15 min to dry off the wood and set the bend.
Some woods as mentioned will like let water than others so keep a note book
enjoy the process
