Very beautiful instrument. Like the other one you posted recently it has the really appealing “contijnuous curves” shape. It seems to work really well for the smaller body size as well, and a 13-fret neck is my personal favourite layout. I feel like I just want to pick it up and play it.

Can you tell us more about those individual saddles? Brass? Can you buy them pre-made or do you make your own? How do you determine the position for each one?

Hey thanks Mark! The individual saddles allow each string to transpose its energy directly into the top. They are made from bone and I turn them my self on my lathe! It also allows you to individually intonate each string by altering the pitch you put on the “pedestal”. if you would like to try it I can make you some!

Looks good! What kind of finish? And do you have any pics of the back? That looks like a nice sapwood stripe visible through the soundhole.

Hey Dennis! I don’t have any professional pictures yet of the back but here’s a photo when I was finishing it up! I use gluboost as my finish it was an experiment at first but makes a beautiful finish! The back on this one is Zirocote!

No this Top is from Northwind Tonewoods a tonewood provider in New Hampshire! The story behind the top is that it is all reclaimed from an 1876 Train trestle that was over browns canyon. The Redwood selected for the beams and truss were very fine grain Redwood and most of all the beams were off center pith making the whole beam basically useable. This is absolutely beautiful wood and there is plenty of it let me know if you need to get ahold of some! I can get you the info.

Yes I can I wipe it on with a blue shop towel in a fast swirl motion because it dries very fast. I also after putting a coat down spray it with the accelerator. For my first coat I build up a few layers to get a good pore fill and seal and then sand it back flat then continue the steps till it’s thick enough to your liking. After that I bring it to my 18” buffer and buff it gloss if I want a Matte finish I with buff it down with grey scotchbrite. I hope this helps!
