Sycamore back and sides, spruce top, etc.
I like the 'violin' type edge look, but don't knock it against anything hard.
Thin box, very balanced tone, not too bass.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

that looks nice. I like the violin style overhang too, too bad it can be so vulnerable. One thing that would help is if you used a purfling line then install a binding that overhangs. A hardwood of similar color would be ideal but even a binding of the same top wood would be less prone to splitting along short grain.

Thanks! It's a square neck, solid lacewood neck, and the heel cap is there because I
had problems with the neck angle, and had to cover up a big mess.
