Hey all, here are two new 00s off the bench.

These are #s 29 and 31 (I start my system when the guitar is started)

These are based on the Martin 00-28vs design.

First one's details:
-Black Walnut B&S
-Douglas Fir top
-Koa bindings
-Brazilian Rosewood Fingerboard and Bridge
-Spalted Tamarind radial purfling
-Honduran Hog neck
-Colortone Waterbased finish (EM6000, I believe)
-Gotoh 97-18 tuners

Please forgive the metering on my camera. I didnt realize the color between the pics would be so different. Something I will try to fix next time.

I am going to try and get some audio files for both these guitars soon. I will post them in this thread when I do.

Sorry for all the pics.
Any questions or comments welcomed!

Both are gorgeous. Super clean work on all the binding and purfling.

What do you think of the Doug fir for the top? Have you used it before?

Yeah, both of those are beauties. The rosette on the first one is … chef’s kiss!

That second one is stunning! What kind of stain did you use, and how did you keep the purflings perfectly white so close to it?

Very nice! Loving the purflings. Loving the burst over the bear claw! Don't think I've seen something as outstanding as that before.

Thank you!!

It's exquisite wood. It feels like marble when you sand to a high grit. It's my first guitar building with it, but I have many, manh more sets to use and I can't wait to use it again. I suspect it's a bit more sensitive to the total mass of the top, but this one sounds great.

Thank you!

It's colortone stain and I just hand-applied it in layers and built it up. I carefully, with an optivisor, apply masking tape to the purfling line before I stain. It seems to work well!

Update:
I found a pick of the masking if that helps.

Beautiful! I’m having a hard time deciding which binding/purfling combo looks better, they’re just both great! Love the photo from the headstock down the neck

The photos wouldn't come up on my Kindle. I finally remembered to look on the computer. I have to agree with Hesh; the photos are great. Good photos are never easy. Great photos are harder.

Waterbase finish. Interesting. It looks very clear, and a nice amount of sheen. Outstanding wood, and decorations. Well done.
