You can mount the electronics using thumbwheels in the sound hole. It’s what I do. I wouldn’t add a finger rest just to have a place for a knob. That seems like the tail wagging the dog.

Thank you. In this case the floating pickup must be screwed to the fingerboard and the wire is visible.

If you want a finger rest, use one. But please believe me that you don’t need one just for a pickup. It’s not theoretical knowledge. I made several this way before I stopped building.

Congratulations for the beautiful guitar. I’ve seen your work before, nice design. I assume that a hole is drilled in any plcenfor rhe cables.
Please, can I ask you about this pickup?

Yes, a small hole let’s the wires pass through. If you look closely you can see the thunbwheels in the sound hole.

The pickup is a Pete Biltoff made pickup. It is absolutely my favorite for this application. It is deep and rich but still has some sparkle of a CC style pickup. The Kent Armstrong and Bartolini sound a bit muddy to my ears. He even sends you both Anilco II and Anilco V magnets so you can see which one you prefer.

I should add that Pete is great to work with. He picks up the phone and answers emails. Tell him what you are looking for and he will steer you in the right direction.

Hello,

I’m in the moment of fret leveling, but I have a inconvenience: the firgerboard is a bit convex (1/64 aprox) so I can have a flat fingerboard for start the leveling.

The trussrod is a single direction one, hence I can’t adjust it in order to obtain a flat fingerboard.

Once the strings are mounted I will no longer have this problem because the trussrod will perform its function.

Any tip for keep the fingerboard flat during the leveling work?

Sounds like you did something wrong during construction...

String it up and see if there’s enough string tension to pull the neck straight or into relief, then adjust rod and level with understring beams. If you cannot get it to a point where you can level it and relax the rod for a hair of relief afterwards you may need to mill your desired relief into the frets.

For future builds consider using a double-action rod as insurance against this issue.

Thank you. I think the fret channels are a bit narrow hence this minor curve

Maybe a PLEK job (if available) would be in order here?
