As the title says, it looks like the discount is no longer in place. I buy enough from them to make my membership worth it regardless, but it would have been nice if they had given me a warning or extended it through the end of my membership, being that the discount was advertised as a benefit of StewMax in my renewal email.

Bummer. That was a big perk for sure. Wish I would have used it more.

The discount on books, DVDs and plans is now 10%. It's bait and switch. I think Josh is right. If the 50% discount was advertised as part of the Stewmax package, they should continue it until the end of his year. I didn't renew when mine last ran out, so I've got no skin in the game, but this isn't right.

Right, I should have mentioned that in my post. I did email them to request having the discount extended through my membership but have not heard back yet. It was quite a nice discount, especially for the more expensive books. They've always been very helpful, so we'll see what they say.

Figures this is the first time I've heard of the discount and I didn't know. I'm a StewMax member too and I've been buying my books such as the excellent offering "Sunburst" by Tony Bacon from Amazon.

The 50% discount was pretty amazing for things like the Gore and Gilet books (which they no longer have in stock), and others in that $100+ range. Too good to be true to last I suppose.

Anyway for anyone reading, I did hear back from StewMac and they are happy to honor the 50% discount through my renewal period. Great service from them as always!

Glad I got the Gore& + the Somogyi offerings and the plans I wanted.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.
