You’d kinda think I never build anything...

I made a permanent outfeed extension for my tablesaw that doubles as a downdraft table. 3/8" holes in 3/4" plywood. I use various flow through sanding pads on the top as a cushion. Works pretty good.

Can you elaborate on the benefits/downsides of using carpet squares in a woodworking shop? I'm not pre-judging. I just know how much junk I put on the floor and have to sweep up.

Glad you brought it up though:) it is something to consider.
The only plus I can see is that they are thick rubber padded and standing on them is a LOT better than standing on cement. My knees are iffy

I can think of a few good things about carpet squares. They are easy on the legs and feet and tools when they get knocked off the bench. They can be picked up and carried outside and have the sawdust beat out of them. They can be replaced if they become too soiled or stained from stuff being spilled on them.
I have a ratty old rug under one of my benches. it does help keep my feet warm in the winter (no insulation under the floor in the shop) I run a Kirby over it occasionally to pick up the chips. I have used those 2'X2' neoprene mats, but the wheels on my chair tend to sink in and not roll very well on them.
Some floor coverings are by design, and some are by chance.

Finally got the engine for the table and the rest of my build room:)

It’s not industrial size BUT it’s a major step up for this hobby builder:!! (It’s the 2hp)
