Sounds like you are the expert on this subject, so I won't argue your points. All I know is that the time I played a McPherson, there was a difference in the sound compared to anything I had heard before. Maybe that was a "lucky" guitar, but something tells me there's a reason they get the prices they do. And, based on interviews from the founder, he's under the impression that engaging more of the top (among other things) contributes to those results.

So, to whoever started the questions about the elevated fret board, I would not want to discourage experimentation in this area, as it seems to have lead at least one maker to become one of the premier builders in the world.

Now, let's all go build something.
