I agree that Polyweb strings sound dead but Nanoweb are totally different animal. Crisp and new sounding.

The packaging on those fake strings look like they just copied it on a color printer.

String preference is definitely a personal thing.

I have a customer who swears the Martin titanium core strings, at $50 a set, sound phenomenally better than anything else on the market. He has me put them on all his axes. Personally I think he’s listening with his wallet but the important thing is he’s happy and having fun.

What a great description. I'm going to remember that and use it where appropriate. Including reminding myself not to do that!

The first time I played Tomastiks I immediately wanted to know what they were. They sounded great, had a slightly "softer" feel to them and they dripped quality with the cloth windings and packaging. I was impressed. Then I Googled them and found out I could have 7 sets of D'Addario EJ-16s for the same price.

So I bought them anyway and quickly found out that I had to expand the slotting of the bridge for the thicker winds on these. This was true of my Heshtone guitars but not what I see on say a Martin. They sounded great and in six months I went back to D'Addario.

Dave said that I was compensating for not being the player I wish to me. In my case I think that Dave was correct....
