Hi Joel,
just been reading through all the comments including one from Bob Conner on Tasmanian Blackwood, now he says Blackwood is too heavy now i have customers that do use Blackwood for necks with no problems so what i would suggust is only try a few pieces to start and then judge for yourself also i know others that have used Tasmanian Myrtle.
its each for his own to find out what works for them.

Just done some google searching on Queensland Maple.
And see that its now a limited availability due to now been locked up in World Heritage area's
so there we go another timber bits the dust that is of use to Luthiers.
World logging practice is for Wood Chips not Value adding.

I didn't say it was too heavy Bob.

I said it is a heavy wood and it certainly is heavier than
those woods that have been traditionally used for guitar
necks such as Mahogany.

You may find that some musicians are not particularly receptive
to instruments whose headstocks have a tendency to "head south"

Point Taken Bob, but as you would know some Blackwood is lighter.
now would Silver Wattle Work.?

Yes i think we have take the woods o there own merrits i get some mahogany that is not suitable for necks we will find the right wood and i am happy to try whatever my customers wish.
