Anyone else going through a bit of withdrawal after the swap meet? It seems like a lot of our great sponsors and some others have not updated there pages with much in a long time. I don't need anything, and I actually told myself I can't buy any B+S sets for a while. I just like to get my zoot fix every once in a while. Anyone? Hesh... |

Well said Zach!!! You know my friend what I do when I have not purchased any new zoot for a while is get my stash out and spread it all out on the floor and roll in it, smell it, taste it, and that usually holds me over until the next zoot opportunity comes along........ Don't even think of finding a cure for WAS (wood acquisition syndrome) it does not exist and the "as seen on TV" huckster cures out there will make you gain 50 pounds........ |

Yup, I have just begun my first guitar (but moving along steadily now) and already I couldn't live without at least looking at the zoot. That's why between Xmas and new year I pooped along to my local tonewood supplier and spent my xmas ???. Don't worry though good people of the OLF, I took pictures - here's one for those of you suffering zoot withdrawal... Enjoy! (Apologies for the blurry face, I didn't ask the proprieter's permission to post his pic on the web, so better safe than sorry) |

::edit:: Of course, I meant 'popped' not 'pooped', I do intend to visit this guy a fair bit in future... |

I dont think there is such a thing a remission. Its been months and I still have the shakes. I find myself going through my stack, looking and tapping. I did buy some small blocks at the local Rockler to experiment with some segmented rosettes, which was a good fix. Bob has a bunch of old stuff still up, but its all sold, which is probably a good thing. If RC, Colonial and AC all update at the same time here, I'll have a zootgasim. Theres still TAS. |

"Zootgasim" - a new word is coined on the OLF. It will live forever in the archives. |

Does anyone else have to smoke after purchasing zoot? |

I dont think I can take credit for it. I think it was Zak from AK that used it in referance to going to Healdsburg one year and picking up a bunch of sets. I cant seem to find it in the archive. Maybe I did come up with it. |

Whenever I find myself looking longingly at new wood supplies, I take a look at my bank account and imagine what my wife would say if I spent it on more guitar wood. I've been feeling a little better about my wood stash while reading the Torres book, and realizing just how easy we have it for getting good tonewood. |

I keep telling myself that I have to stop buying zoot and use what I have. It seems that every time I see something different, I just HAVE to buy it! Heck, I have even started looking at my friends and family's furniture and thinking about how good of a guitar it would make. Hesh, maybe if I take your lead and just spread what I have on the floor and roll in it for a while it will help?? |

Actually, you want a real zoot curse, upgrade your bandsaw to serious status. After everything you have in the shop is resawn, you start looking at the unused old furniture in teh basement, etc. .... WAS squared. |

OMG I just found out the Zoot man lives just up the street from me, I think I'll go introduce myself to Uncle Bob. Can you believe the beauty of all that local wood, I thought Buffalo was a zone 5 but it must be warmer by the lake!

I have all mine sent to my office. Sneak it in at night, when I go out to the shop. Where is the "Guilty" emotocon? |
