I got Ed to sell me one of the CV 1800 RH Cyclones, a relay, and remote controller. My plan is to take the barebones unit and upgrade my Delta 2HP Dual Bag Dust Distributor.

Yahoo, cheaper'n doctor bills, no offense to doctors of course!

thats awesome man. ive never actually owned anything other than a cyclone. i think you are going to be quite happy. the only thing i would think is that you might lose a bit of air flow and maybe some loss of static pressure through the cyclone body. as compared to your normal dust collector, that is. cyclones of equal horsepower ratings to a bagged collector usually have a lower flow capacity and max static pressure rating.

ummm... i did understand you correctly, right? youre going to use the motor from your delta to pull through the new cyclone? i didnt mean to be negative about your new toy. have fun Big smile.

Heath, Thanks, You are right, I'm trashing my bagger and using the pieces to put this cyclone in operation. Frankly, if it works at all, it has to beat the bag.

I have this keen sense that it will work, especially after building my little dust sucker, pictured below:

This thing is a toy in comparison. So, what kind of cyclone do you have Heath?

bruce, i have this grizzly cyclone. my largest dust maker is a 15" planer (actually, thats my biggest chip maker. my biggest dust maker is my table saw. dust collection on that thing is worthless). before i bought the cyclone, i was just letting it pile up on the floor. that lasted about two weeks Big smile. money well spent. i hope your new toy cleans up your shop and your lungs nicely.

Wow, nice looking unit Heath. Do you get much in the plastic see through bag? I bet not. Great idea.

there is very little that actually makes its way down into that little plastic bag. in fact, in the couple of years ive owned it, ive never emptied the thing. that of course depends on use, but you get the idea. the red and black handles hanging on the side of the filter are linked to a brush system to clean the inside of the element. so the dust that is cleaned from the filter is pretty much the only thing that falls into the bag. also, i think you are going to be stoked on having a remote control for the unit. no excuse not to turn it on!

Yeah, I put a remote on my little vacuum/Dust Devil system, and it makes all the difference.  Mine, however, is not moveable.  The Vacuum is under a table, and the Dust Devil is buried behind my drill press.  I just use a 25' hose.
