Hello, Does anyone have this saw or opinions about this - primarily for hobby-style resawing? I have the opportunity to move on one for a good price but wanted some input from those who know. Thanks so much for your time, Stephen |

amazon has it, rated 11 times, eighty percent rating, that is excellent, anything 80 or above. Great price too. http://www.amazon.com/710750-JWBS-18X-Horsepower-Woodworking -230-Volt/dp/B0006U67I8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=12000905 29&sr=8-1 Also, I think the OLF get's a little support if you enter through the Amazon link and buy there? |

I've had one for 5 years with no problems,I did put carter bearings on it after the old ones crapped out from cutting wet bowl blanks, it is the only bandsaw I have ever used so I have nothing to compare it to.Hope this helps. It resaws just fine. |

I have had one for five years and used it for resawing until I moved onto a Hitachi resaw bandsaw. I would say that it has done a good job for general bandsaw work and some resawing. Issues faced and resolved: The wheels were out of alignment so I had to shim the top wheel by about 1/4". The frame will flex allowing the guides to shift when resawing. The after market bearings for the blade work okay but will wear out. The cam lock on the fence had a nylon bush that kept on falling off but that could be fixed easily. And blades wider than 3/4" required the removal of the table to install themj without damaging the blade. Wide bandsaw blades occasionally were damaged when they ran into spot welds located in the neck region. After five years the switch mechanism is starting to make a buzzing noise. regards Tim |

Tim, how do you like the Hitachi Resaw Band Saw? My son called me and he knows a guy selling one, used, for $500 and it includes an unused 3" blade and the extra wheels. Someone might be interested at that price. |

I think the Hitachi Resaw bandsaw works well particularly with the thin kerf blade that comes with it as standard. The machine is a little under powered and even my machine with an upgrade to a 3hp motor might perform better with a 6 or 7hp. That being said it does work well. The down side of the thin kerf blade is the number of resharpens that can be done by a saw doctor. I use a dremel with diamond disc a a honing device and this has increased the life of my blade without any indication of blade fatigue in the gullet area. There is an article specifically dealing with resaw bandsaws in the American lutherie magazine that came out last year in the summer or autumn addition. I will see if I can give you the Vol/no etc. regards Tim |

I've got an 18" Jet bandsaw. I waited a few months for the newest model to come out. The new model (18-X) has a beefier trunnion and increased resaw capacity - up two inches from the old 18" model, to 12". Check the model number so you know what you're getting. When I read up on them there were one or two bandsaws around that were about as good as the Jet, when the new model came out it left the others behind. |
