Here's the Dreadnought (there,I said it!!)I recently finished.I was going to wait untill I got some better shots,but that could be a while.

OH, I forgot the specs:
Sitka top with mild bearclaw
EIR back and sides
ebony fretboard,bridge,truss rod cover and head veneer
Honduran mahogany neck
ivoroid binding and heel cap
nitro finish
paua abalone rossete and fretboard markers.

I just wondered how you got the amber tint on the finish of the top? Did you use z-poxy on the top?

Ken, That is straight nitro on the top.
It is a dark piece of Sitka-but the real "secret" to the color is that I let this guitar age for 6 years on the shelf!! I'm serious-I started 4 guitars about 6 years ago and then built other ones out of sequence,so I am just getting back to them.
The sound is great as well-still opening up,but a real cannon.

Hammond, What are you talking about that Arkansas Extension Cord?

I thought it looked perfect, UL approved, Up to NEC 2008 Code Book too! It's hooked downstream of a GFCI too.

It's an Arkansas Pigtail. Woo Pigs Sooie, Razorbacks!

(PS BRAD, I'm a Master Electrician too. You'll be alright)

Great job Brad - Simple, traditional and well done. I get that same happy face every time I finish one and it actually plays Then if it sounds goo I get giddy Then if it has T Then, if the action is good, intonation doesnt need tweaking, finish comes out great and everything looks clean I jump around the room singing "I am great"

P.S. The last one has never happen, but i imagine thats how I would react

Wow Brad, that looks fantastic.  I just got my first kit from LMI two days ago.  Been working on it when I get off work to bed time.  I hope my first one turns out half as good as this.

Nope, you're the first, and thank you.  But heck, you guys are all busy discussing and showing off all your beautiful guitars and I've been trying to catch up on all the posts and pictures the past two days. 


I really appreciate all the comments and help you've already shared.  In my neck of the woods there isn't any too many Luthier's cept about five miles from me there is a  feller named of Tom Murphy who lives in Marion, IL.  I hear he does alot of work for Gibson.  I've been wanting to go to his shop for a long time but don't know if he'd have time for all my questons.

Don't forget to check out the archives.  Loaded with good stuff.  Also there is the Non-resident OLF Tutorial Page.  Make sure you visit that.
Think of any topic you would like to know about, and search the archives.  You'll likely find multiple hits.  It is great information.  Also, many of our sponsors have information on their pages, and we also have a jigs, tools and resources link at the top of the page here among other links to great information.  Two days is barely getting your feet wet.  I still haven't found it all, and I've been here almost a year.
