Post subject:  Bolt or Screw thread sizes in the UK? Wal Bass neck connect
I'm wondering what thread I might find on this Wal Bass neck?

It's a five scew or bolt pattern. It has an allen head, and fine threaded shaft, smaller than 1/4 inch, close to 3/16ths inch, but in a different thread.

I need some same size inserts for another new Bass Neck I'm building for a Wal. TIA Bruce

For up to three images, go to the bottom of the post page where it says "If you want to attach one or more files enter the details below" - the browse button works like the old pop-up box from the old system. Find the pic on your drive, and attach then click add the file when the address shows up in the box by the browse button. Then after it comes back, clidk on "put in line" box and it will enter the link on the page. You can't see the picture like before. You have to go to the preview page to see how the picture enters. Max size is 256k I think.

I don't know but I imagine they are 5mm (0.197").
In the UK the engineering industry 'officially' converted to the metric system around 1970 but they still sell beer in pints (but they're bigger than US ones :P )

You may have to directly measure. I am the (once-in-a-while) proud owner of a 1973 MGB -- had it since 1981 -- how's that for masochism? It has an interesting assortment of metric, SAE and Whitworth thread sizes in and on it. (Not sure what 5/16 of a Whitworth is, but it sure ain't an inch!) :P

BTW it truly is unfortunate that Imperial Pints haven't managed to rule the brewery world! :D :D

Probably a metric thread. By the way John, my wife has a 1974 MGBGT, concourse condition (should be the amount of money it's costs me!) uses it every day as her only car.

If I carefully measured a Wal neck machine screw, is there anyone in the UK that could find me some brass inserts? I 'aven't the foggiest idea where to look. :roll:

Funnily enough, Wal basses are in High Wycombe, two miles down the road from me. They had a website but it isn't active any more so I'll do some searching in the phone directory. There are a number of Wal bass forums that may be of use to you - scroll down the page for the links, and this may be of interest too.

When you know what the bolts/inserts are I'd be happy to get some and send them to you if they are not available in the US.
