Post subject:  Vintage Pearloid Pickguard for Thinline Telecaster

Hi, I am new to the forum, so please excuse me if I do not adhere to all required protocols! I have a question regarding trying to locate an original vintage pearloid pickguard for a dual humbuckered 1970s Fender Thinline Telecaster. In short does anyone know where I might be able to locate one? Alternatively, is anyone able to advise me on how to "relic" a reproduction scratchplate so that it appears much more yellowed off, thus more closely resembling the real thing?

Thanks for taking the time to read my post!

Dan Erlewine just covered this topic in one of Stew Macs Trade Secret newsletters. He mixed some amber stain with some shellac and sprayed it on the pickguard. Obviously, there would be some trial and error involved in getting the color just right.

Thanks very much for the advice/replies. These guards seem to be as rare as rocking house droppings! I'll check out the recommended avenues for figuring out either where to purchase one or how to "age" one.

Much appreciated.
