Hi Guys.
Henry Lowenstein didn't know I lived pretty much in his back yard until I contacted him about the April show, and once we got to talking we started designing inlays too.

Henry isn't really into the marine bio thing, although he is an avid fly fisherman.
He's having fun pushing my inlay themes into new directions on some pieces. I am enjoying it as well.
Here is the first one for the show- "moon over Miami". An nude art deco moon goddess drops the pieces from the heavens down onto the fretboard as they turn into a re-make of an old parlor guitar art deco theme form the 1920's I presume. Henry provided the fretboard art form an old guitar, and I developed the girl to go with it. It does go well with the idea of Miami's art deco district.

On the back is a little jester from Henry's days as editor of a college journal he worked with, Columbia University I believe.

It has nothing to do wit the front, but he likes it.
Thanks for looking as always, and if I didn't meet you at NAMM then hopefully your going to the show in Miami. I would love to meet everybody there.
For some reason the images look really pixellated- most likely it's my new cheap viewer.. :(
Sincerely,
Craig L

Beautiful Inlays Craig!

I am really looking forward to meeting you at Miami and seeing some more of your work in person.

Beautiful...but what about Don Johnson, cigarette boats, cocaine, discos, and some anti-Castro billboards?

My own tenuous connection to Miami is that my paternal grandfather had property there (wish it was still in the family!), and was a car dealer on Long Island. He took in a Bugatti on a trade-in for a Lincoln, and the Bugatti became my dad's first car...which he drove on the beach in Miami.

Nice work, Craig! But don't you know that images of the female human body, even those suggested by a plank of wood, are considered offensive here?

Post subject:  Thanks Guys. Rick I meant to find you at NAMM

That would be a first car I would love to have.. My first was a toyota..
I haven't seen any anti-Castro billboards, and the Don Johnson thing is pretty old school retro now..
That said, I am sure there is still plenty of coke, and actually if the star dust in the inlay was white instead of silver, well......

Fast boats and even faster women are all over, and the discos have turned into these crazy clubs I have only heard rumors about with bubble parties, etc.. that you need to know someone to get into. Thankfully I have neither the connections OR the desire to get in.

Rick I met some of your family at NAMM by Guitars for the Classroom. They were really nice to hang out with and your son is great. I spent some time over there one morning. I was hoping to meet you but you are faster than I expected you to be...
I really hope to meet you all down here.

Your work is an inspiration Howard. Will you be in Miami?
I am sad I missed you at NAMM.

Bubble parties? Nevermind, I'm probably too old.

All seriousness aside, who is building that guitar? And does the board really have no taper?

Man Craig your work is just over the top beautiful CLAP, CLAP, CLAP, CLAP, CLAP

Post subject:  Thanks everyone! It's on a Michael keller archtop...

I could have sworn the thing was tapered- most likely it's the odd angle of the picture Howard.
I kept fighting the light on this one during photography- it's really shiny! I have to give a huge thanks to Chuck Erickson and his seemingly non-stop energy and creativity on this one- without his grav-lam I could not have done her hair as I did- it's all one big piece of grav-lam, which has no joint lines, all engraved as a solid image for the hair.
It took hours, but the effect of pretty cool in person.
