One of my nephews just returned from a missions trip down to Honduras, and Before he left he asked if I wanted anything from down there. I told him I would love to have some unusual wood and gave him the sizes I needed. He returned yesterday and brought me back a big slab of a wood called "guanacaste"

Anybody ever seen or used this stuff for an instrument? This block is a little small, but somehow I will make it work for me. It is 7.5" x 27" x 3.75" in size, is quite dark with some wild grain going on in it and extremely heavy.

He also brought me back a bag of coffee.... yummmmmmmm.

check out the wood

I bought some from Bob C. about a year and a half ago. It has a nice mellow ring to it. I'm building a guitar with it right now...so I'll let you know in about a year how it comes out.
