Is it possible to have a VB notification screen pop up and tell you that you have a new message? If so, would it be possible to have it open in another tab? (or window)

I am finding that I have messages waiting on me and unless I look in the new messages area I dont even know they are there..

Thanks!

Ken

I think I have seen a pop-up window that tells me I have a new message. What I don't understand is that the number of new messages never seems to leave 0. I'll get an email, that says I have a message, then I come on-line, and it says 0 new messages, 1 unread, how's that possible?

Ken, I too miss that feature of the old software and hope it is just a "switch" that needs to be thrown to enable it.

Having said that, you can always see if you have a new message at the top of every page

The irritating pop-up window letting you know that you have a new message feature is not available with this software - as far as I can see on our other forum. But you can turn on email notification of messages and just leave your email program always on in the back ground - that is what I do.

Waddy bro as for the count being off I think that I recall that this software was written in Florida....... sorry Ken buddy - couldn't resist....... :D

I sent myself a PM, and this popped up.http://www.luthiersforum.com/forum/ucp.php?i=pm&mode=popup

It is better in this software, because it does not make you automatically go to messages. It just gives you the option of going there. Also, while this link takes you to a full page of the pop-up, it pops in a small separate screen when you are browsing. Not in the main screen.

Probably South Florida, where all the (Hmmmm, how to say this?)well established people live.

Go to your user control panel and select >Board Preferences, then check YES for "Pop up window on new private message."

It does for me, Ken. Just a little new window opens, and I can either ignore it, close it, or click on the link and it will take me to my messages.

I get the popup window now, but when you click on it, it opens the PM in the same window as the forum thread. It doesnt open another window (or another tab) for the PM.

Instead of left-clicking on the link, right-click it, and tell it to open in a new tab or window.
