I too just sent a guitar to Joe.
I was reluctant to send him one because I am a huge fan of Tonys finishes and I believe in loyalty. Since 2 guitars were close to being finished, I thought I would send one to each of them.
The comments on Joes finishes are just incredible so why not send him a guitar. Hesh's praise is beyond believe and I trust my OLF brother!!!!!!!!! Joe is clearly a perfectionist and that is what is needed for the finish work. Well I shipped a guitar to him and he received it late yesterday. Well tonight he has already sent me picts with a sealer coat on the guitar. Looks nice!!!!

This is my 1st OLF SJ that is not a 12 string. 6 string OLF SJ with high figure claro walnut from allied and a Shane lutz top. I asked Joe for a hint of an amber color for the top and he said the sealer should do that and it looks like it is.
Well done so far.

Andy,

Wow, great looking guitar! That Claro walnut is gorgeous. You will not be sorry you decided to have Joe do your guitar. I should be getting mine back from him shortly and so far the photos have dazzled me.

Congrats.
Max

Beautiful, Andy!!! I'm heading to Joe's this morning to drop off an electric and look forward to seeing yours in the shop. I didn't realize I would be sharing such good company with both you and Max and I must say I'm honored.

I'll be interested in your comparison of the 2 finishes. I was able to see both of Hesh's last weekend. The side by side comparison was striking. IMO, there was a noticeable difference and it's clear which one I prefer.

Andy bro she looks great!!!!

One of the things that we noticed on my guitar that Joe finished was the very slight hint of amber from the rosewood sealer. In fact David Collins and I discussed it and so too did the crew in Buffalo last week end.

It does not look like the amber that you get with an epoxy wash coat or any tinting - instead it looks like the natural wood with any natural colors just brought forward. It's very warm and pleasing looking and also not likely to yellow from UV exposure over time.

The thing to know when Joe is finishing a guitar for you is that you will get progress updates very frequently which keeps the excitement level very high. And with his normal turn around time of 10 -20 days (mine took 20 and it was his first) it's easier to keep delivery dates with clients/friends.

I posted this Q on another thread, but I'll ask it here, too. Will any of you who are having your guitars finished by Joe be bringing them to the GAL convention in June? I want to see his work!

Andy, she's as beautiful as usual.
I, too, am a sucker for Claro, and your set looks outstanding.
Congrats!

Steve

Another fine looking guitar Andy. [:Y:] You still have the most original sound port I've ever seen and perfect for your brand. :)

That looks as if it will be a fine guitar. I like the claro, only ever built with English walnut, think I'll have a scout around the sponsors.

Looking forward to seeing it finished.

Colin
