The lutherie community is fortunate to have really good folks running these tonewood businesses. I have dealt with almost every OLF sponsor at this point and all those experiences have been exceptional. However, I really just wanted to say a special thanks to Steve at Colonial. I simply could not be happier with the sets I received - absolutely premium quality wood.

I recently added a page to my website showing most of my Back / Side Inventory and wanted to share a few photos of some of the stuff I received. (As an aside, I don't know why most builders don't do this - I think it makes the commission process much more enjoyable for the customer.)

I wanted to specifically mention the Movingui. This stuff is one of the most visually stunning woods I have ever seen and it has one of the most vibrant taptones I have ever heard - I recommend you pick up a few sets while you still can - I know I did

WOW! Great stuff Steve!

Yup, got my package from Steve last night. A set of Movingui, Curly Hog, Carp Spruce, various bridge blanks... I like how he used scrap stripped hog/sapele for packing backers. I'm sure I can use it for something.

The Movingui is stunning and has a great tap as you mentioned. I should have got two, but I just have a huge invantory and there so much other sweet zoot out there to try.

I didnt see the Pear up there. Must have been a special order.

Great looking zoot! Can anyone comment on working with the Movingui? Looks great but what does is bend like, etc.
I agree, Steve is one of the best vendors I have dealt with. But then in the OLF we just don't have bad sponsors.

I don't know of anyone who has built with Movingui - but my initial impression is that it will be a very easy wood to bend. I am really looking forward to using it.

I discussed this with Steve when I placed my order. I made a comment on hoping there wouldn’t be a bending incident and not being able to find additional sides. He said it should be an easy bend and easy to work with.

I like the pear..it isn't listed on the main site- how much was it per set, if you don't mind me asking?

Simon...that T Myrtle looks outstanding! Not to mention the other sets. Placed an order myself. A couple sets of Mahogany and & Adi top on the way. +1 on Steve, very personable...as always.

I believe it was around $150 a set after the 20% discount Steve has for the opening of his new website. I have been looking for Pear for a long time but haven't been able to locate any I liked...the Pear sets I got from Steve are truly exceptional. And I think he has a few more in stock. I believe he is still working on get all his inventory on the site in picture form - so if you place an order, I would ask what else he has in stock as there might be other things that will pique your interest.

I'd not have thought of pear for B/S wood though. I've worked with pear on non-lutherie woodworking projects before and found it to be quite brittle - it splits very easily. I'm just sayin'.....

Methinks I've got to give Steve a call and get my share of the zoot...
