Post subject: | Help with Humidifier |
I just purchased a humidifier for my shop. It seems to be helping but I need to fill the water every day and since I don't work in the shop every day this is a hastle. There has to be a better way? Anyone have any tricks to hooking the humidifier to a water source so it can use water when needed? |

Hooking to a source depends upon the style of humidifier. I am sure some of the others will give advice. Meanwhile, you can imporve your situation if you are able to reduce air leaving and entering your shop, such as under large door gaps. However, if you are on forced air with the rest of your house, you probably cannot avoid the air movement. Also, if you have been keeping the room warmer than you really need, you could help by reducing the temperature. |

I have to fill my big system twice a day in the winter. I think that is just the price you have to pay. I thought about rigging up some auto fill system, but with the parts and effort required it seems more reasonable just to take 10-15 minutes a day and fill it up. |

You can actually get an auto fill reasonably cheap from tractor supply. It is plastic and is designed to keep the watering trough full for cattle and other animals. It works on the same principal as a toilet tank water valve but it much smaller and you can run 1/4" plastic tubing over to it to make it work. Tractor supply water level control Then again, this will only work if your humidifier is the kind that uses an open tank, free standing water, If yours is the "bubbler" kind, this wont work. |
