My second 000 is done. Don't let the curling thing in the pic titles throw you... long story. All material from Lmii. Very happy. e.i.rosewood back and sides. Fretboard bound with bloodwood. Sides bound with white boltaron. Chickened out on using bloodwood. Managed to lay in bloodwood purfling on top succssesfully. The forum helped me on several issues. I wanna say a bunch of stuff about different challenges but the last attempt I took too long and the page expired. Here it is in all its imperfect glory. Greg |

Very nice looking guitar. I'm very impressed with the purfling/binding work, only because I can't seem to get that part right. What are you using to cut your binding channels, by the way? |

I use a dremel 400xpr with a precision router base and edge guide from Stew Mac (p.16 in the catalogue) I used the method taught in their video that includes making a tapered wedge to add to the baseplate that you put on when you come to the more sloped parts of the back. That keeps the 5/16 router bit more level. The video doesn't include any of the pre routing antics such as pacing around the shop and deep breathing checking heart rate turning off radio prayerful contemplation etc. etc. I plan on taking another pic and asking about experiences with gel varnish as a finish as that is what I used...somewhat succesfully.
