Just wondering if any of you have used the Tusq nuts and saddles and what your opinions may be. -j. |

j...I routinely use Tusq bridge pins and really like them. They have a consistent density, are as hard or harder than bone and "ping" when dropped on a table. I have also tried one Tusq nut but prefer bone nuts and saddles. |

I've used Tusq nuts before, they are a lot like micarta to me, better than plastic but not as good as bone. |

Excuse me please Ken if I answer Joe. Joe "string zing" is a sound that a player hears that sounds very much like a Chef's knife being sharpened on a steel. |

String zing is a noise that can sound like a wolf whistle too. The reviews I have read on the tusq products have alot of these complaints. Of course there may be millions of people happy with them also and all I am seeing is the unsatisfied ones. |

I've never heard that term used to describe that sound. Would the nut really contribute to that sound? |

The nut is the worst for it. I havent seen that many complaints for the bridge pins causing it, but the nut and saddle are the worst for string zing. |

Is Tusq similar material to the Graph tech string saddles used on Tune-O-Matic bridges? |

Nelson...Two different animals: Tusq is a molded ceramic material used as a bone substitute in acoustic guitars for nuts, saddles and bridge pins. Graphtec is a molded polymer intended to have low friction probably from a graphite substance in the plastic. I've seen nuts and saddles as you listed advertised for electric guitars. |
