Thanks John (Blues Creek Guitars). Those mini clamps with crawlers were AWSOME for binding the kerfing. I really liked the extra long kerfing too (no piecing it together). For those who have not tried those clamps, consider them in the future. $3.99 for 18 minis and 4 larger versions. I actually was put off when I found the 4 larger ones, but then they were better on the tougher curves. 4 jars of them were used to attach kerfing on both sides for an OM model. There were some leftover. My guess is 5 jars for a dread. Threw all the clothes pins out! Mike |

I got those too. Seem strong enough (though I use paper binder clips) I used on to hold two cutains together and noticed one broke. Ya get what you pay for at HF, that's all. |

Yes, HF is a bastion of cheapdom. I never thought about those paper binder clips. Now, if they just had crawlers on them! |

Hi Mike, Give the binder clips an A-B test with stiff clothespins, etc. It's nice to have options. If I had a lot of money and plenty of rubber tubing and the time to wrap em up, I'd consider those nifty aluminum clamps that Taylor used to sell, and John Watkins might still have. He offered a great price on them last year. Happy building! |

Its all about the crawlers. Anything without crawlers portends of the possibility of the kerfing lifting (if you can visualize what I mean). Crawlers distribute the clamp pressure evenly. For kerfing, not much is needed, but it must be even. Paper binders are a great idea, but their pressure is at one point. They would be ideal with crawlers. Mike |
