Lance - Great guitar and great photos! One can see the detail of the grain in the sap wood of the back. The contrast is lower! Congrats! |

Lance - awesome job what are the bindings on this? Curly maple? did you dye these before putting them on the guitar or did the entire body get the same colors before topcoating? They really pop out at you! |

Terry, there Fossil Walrus Ivory, which by the way I am now an official dealer of if anybody needs any ![]() Hesh, Steve is indeed a heck of a photographer, although he would never admit it! If you could see what he had to work with! we had two floor lamps, 100 watts each and two 250 watt halogen work lights. He was like a mad man moving around the guitar trying to find a glarless shot. I got about 8o shots and most are usable, but there are a dozen or so "money" shots! We are going to do the Koa Cutaway and BRW D-14 next! |

Lance, Nice guitar and nice pictures!! Are you taking this one to Montreal? If so I'd check out to see if you need the Cites paperwork for the ivory pins. I think you have to prove they were manufactured before 1940 - not just made from ivory that dates before then. I could be wrong, but as I say check it out. |

Thanks fella's! Dave the pins are "Fossil walrus" Ivory, so there is no restrictions. I only WISH I could take this guitar to both Miami and Montreal, but this one has to head out to its owner next week, he has waited a long time for it. |

Lance Kragenbrink wrote: Dave the pins are "Fossil walrus" Ivory, so there is no restrictions. Lance, As it's not going out of the US it's not an issue, but my understanding is that ivory is ivory as far as CITES and a border customs official is concerned unless it has appropriate CITES paperwork. The only way you will legally get an item across is if it has the appropriate CITES paperwork. It may well be that Fossil Walrus ivory isn't covered by CITES but you will need to have CITES accept that that's what it is and issue the appropriate paperwork. On the CITES website here there is a whole document about how to identify different ivories including Walrus so they obviously take it seriously. Maybe someone with more experience of CITES like Larry Davis could chip in. |

Lance, Beautiful guitar. Dave is right on the ivory issue and it would be a shame for anyone to have a guitar as beautiful as this confiscated because of an ivory issue. I have been making and selling ivory parts for guitars for the last 7 years. The only ones that customs can tell the difference on is Mammoth ivory. Elephant and all Walrus you need a CITES to transport out of the country....if they ask. Tim |

Tim, does this apply to "fossilized' Walrus products? For the record, this particular guitar will not be going to any show.. Thanks |
