Post subject:  I'm looking for an adventurous luthier...

Greetings, craftsmen and craftswomen.

I'm not a luthier, but I am in need of one. I play an instrument known as the Morin Khuur, or Mongolian Horsehair Fiddle. My instructor, Li Bo, is returning to Japan soon, and up until now I've been using an instrument borrowed from him. Rather than pay an exorbitant amount of money to ship an instrument from a luthier in Mongolia or Inner Mongolia (the latter is actually in China), I'm trying to find a luthier in the United States that would be interested in making one of these for me. Any help locating such a person would be a big help.

Thank you.

Shipping isn't that much. You are likely to spend more having it built here.

WOW! I have one of those! I never knew what it was called! I found it inthe basement of a place I used to work at and saved it from trash day. Very cool. Gotta go look for it on you tube now....

This made my day!

I know Edward Dick at http://www.evd303.com/ has built just about everything. He is always building unusual instruments. He may be willing to take this on, but it won't be cheap! Good luck!
