Post subject: | Finishing inside of travel guitar- glue adhesion to shellac |
I'm building a size 0 12 fret to use as a travel guitar. I'm going to make the neck easily removable by putting the attachment bolts down through the heel of the neck. I want to finish the inside of the guitar to help stabilize it through different humidity conditions. I'm thinking to use a couple of coats of shellac on the inside. I can't see an easy way to do a neat shellac job after the body is completely assembled, so I'm thinking to do it just before I put the top on. Will the top glue OK to the linings if there is a coat of shellac on it? I'm planning to use Titebond to fasten the top down. TIA... |

Before gluing the plates, how about putting the rim down onto the top with the braces up, and tracing along the linings onto the top and masking that area off? |

Yeah, I think masking both the linings and top is probably the safest route. I'll still sand lightly before the final glue-up- that's a good idea to get rid of any residue from the tape. Thanks |
