I am curious what thickness folks are using for the bridge patches.
Anyone care to share this information?

Maple glues to the soundboard, Braz takes the wear from the ball ends.

3/32" for me. VG Rock Maple.
I'm going to try out Frank Fords suggestion of running the patch grain parallel with the top as soon as I get over to the lumber yard and find a tight grain vg piece that's 7" wide...

Usually around 90-100 thou with maple and EIR. I went down to about 60 thou on the last one made out of rock-hard Makore. With the high silica count, I figured it should do fine...

Robbie;
Did you mean for nylon strung guitars ?
If so mine are usually tapered from -1.5mm at the centerline and tapered to .5mm at the ends.
length at laeast as long as my bridge -but sometimes 20mm past the bridge length.
I've made full top width ones but the tone was a bit brittle.
width -15-25mm depending on what top I'm using and the sound I'm after for that guitar

Mike,

I was actually referring to steel string bridge patches but thanks for the info on the classical patches. I do something similar on my classicals.
