Hey guys, I'm looking for a high figure Quilted Sapele Set for a guitar I will be building for myself pretty soon. If any one has an extra set or know where I can find one, please let me know. Thanks, |

Hi Peter! Steve at Colonial has some on his web. I think he updates his web regularly. So Peter, I'm curious to why you want a sapele for your own guitar. There is nothing wrong with sapele it's just that you built so many nice guitars with many other woods and your choice of sapele just seems very interesting. Also, what top are you going to use? Thanks, David |

I've got a 65" x 7.5" x 1" board of very nice sapele pomelle that will make a fine guitar someday. Not sure I want to part with it though....maybe for the right price? It's cut on about 45 degrees, so neither quartersawn nor flatsawn....and the quilting is over the whole board and all the way through too Dave F. |

You mean like this Steve? This piece is 24" x 16" x 2.4", almost exactly quartersawn, and absolutely beautiful!! Cheers, Dave F. |

I think Peter wants stuff that Brock Polings have on his web. The presentation grade Sapele. |

peterm wrote: Thats a nice board but I am seeking more Quilt than that.... thus my problem... You'll be lucky Peter....hey, but I'll keep my eyes and ears open for you. I plan to scour my local zoot emporium this Saturday (Global Wood Source). Edit - I just checked out the wood on Brock's website - WOW, I see what you mean now. He has some fantastic stuff on there. Peter, maybe you need to grovel to Brock and see if he'll part with any of it? Good luck, Dave F. |

Peter, I have a couple sets also. They are very similar to John's set and the same wood that Don had. The wood is presently in a large billet so I can cut any size set you would need. If you still need one shoot me a pm. |

I've got some of the primo grade stuff - still not sure what I'm going to do with it, but we could certainly talk. Shoot me a PM with the dimensions you need and more or less what you're looking to pay, and I'll see what I can come up with. Andrew Wright http://www.guitarmatch.com |

Oh you mean the "brains" look - try Uncle Bob at RC Tonewoods - he had some that JJ built with that had more brains then any we have seen here so far. Dave how much for that front door? |

OMG! The quilting on that piece is amazing John!! And JJ, your finished guitar looks great too - from what I can see in the photo anyway - got a better photo of the back/sides you want to share? Hesh - hey, I hadn't thought about that door - yeah, it's real solid mahogany - could probably get two or three nice necks out of it! Just in case though, I think I'll wait for my wife to get back from her trip abroad and ask her before I start sawing it up.... Steve - I gots a lot more good stuff on the other side of the foyer too.....I've got WAS (ZAS?) bad!! Cheers, Dave F. |
