Hey guys,

I may be about to get a commission for a 000 guitar. bliss I've only built dreads so far, and was wondering if any of you guys had any general advice for making a good sounding one. I will more than likely start off a set of plans and tweak, if needed, from there. I had thought about feathering the lower X brace legs to nothing at the lower bout to maybe help with the bass for one thing. I'll know more, as far as which top an back/side woods will be used, if this commission comes to fruition, and can give a little more info, but I was just wondering if there are any general guidelines I should follow. Thanks in advance for any useful information.

Well, Brad, the best advice I can give is to make it smaller. :D

I have a guitar that is very similar to an 000, that I call my DM model. I have found that spreading the x-braces a little does wonders for improving the bass response. Thinning the top around the edges of the lower bout helps with tone and volume as well.

You will enjoy building something besides dreads.
