I have been sharpening stuff by hand, and it is time consuming, and can get expensive with good stones and all. So I had been thinkin about it and broke down and bought this thing (The worksharp 3000) yesterday. Man, you can put a razor's edge on nearly anything in about 1 minute. Really really cool machine.

Not many people know this but "Cranky" was the 8th dwarf and was forced out of the group by Grumpy who wanted to monopolize the aura of dissension. Instead of continuing his profession of mining, Cranky became a soldier of fortune and eventually took up woodworking where he actually became a contributing member of society in his own right. I'm not too sure whether he and Grumpy are on speaking terms yet.

Seriously...I agree with your assertion that the time required for touchups is measured in seconds whereas it takes minutes just to set up a blade on one of the many rotors out there. Of the expensive sharpening machines I've seen, most just take up a lot of space and collect dust after a while...once it's discovered how easy it is to hand guide and sharpen either via stones or SS. My rouge-charged leather strop is my primary source of edge rejuvination and it's always within reach for a quick 4 or 5 strokes every 10 minutes or so.
