Since I am a retired police officer (Georgia State Trooper) I decided to build a mandolin I could dedicate to my brother and sister police officers. At one time it made me mad to be called "The Pig" but now I wear the name with pride. Well, I decided to build a mandolin for me and all my law enforcement friends. So I am going to call it "The Pig" and here is the start of it. On the first pic you will see the F hole drawn out on the top. In the 2nd picture the F holes are cut out free hand using a dremel tool and on the other pic you will see the F holes finished up using only an xacto knift and sandpaper glued to a hacksaw blade. Now if you have a Cnc machine this is childs play. But if you are a true builder you need to know how to do it the hard way by hand. I have nothing against a cnc manchine I want one really bad but you still need to know how to do it the hard way first. |

I think those are very elegant f holes, indeed. Pretty fine work. |
