I am about to order plans for the Fox bender from LMI. I may order the video as well. I am tooling up for my first guitar build. I built a Koa Uke using a modified bender with light bulbs. It worked OK, but I had some structural issues with the bender. So now I'm bent on following the plans.

Are there other parts that I should go ahead and order from LMI when I order the plans? I hate to pay the shipping and then turn around and pay again for something I couldn’t pick up at home depot.

Also, is the video worth the purchase?

Thanks for your help,

John Killin

I doubt youll need the video, the plans are pretty straight forward... In fact you can almost build it from looking at enough photos really... Id order the plans first and then evaluate whether you need the video,,,or not.
Cheers

Hi John,
I bought the plans and the vid. from LMI. The vid is helpful in that, he shows you how to work the whole thing. It's only $10.85(on DVD now). The plans are easy to follow. I changed a few things to fit me. As for the parts, like the springs and screw, they are expensive from LMI. Check around and you can find what you need at a hardware store. The press screw can be had from John at Blues Creek much cheaper, also the blanket(if you use one), and the metal for the sides. It's a preety simple machine to build.
After I built it, I liked some of the other simpler side benders on the OLF, so I did one of those and actually like it better. "To each his own"! Look at some of the ones on this site.

Dave

You can purchase the press screw and the springs for a fraction of the cost at http://www.mcmastercarr.com
