I'm going to do both of these mods to my Rikon. I'm still unsatisfied with the guide
system. Once adjusted it works ok, but the adjustment is a PITA...I'm not aware
of any aftermarket guides that would improve the situation, either.

I have the Rikon Deluxe 14". I don't like the use of a setscrew to hold the blade guides. On my old Delta, each guide had a screw adjusting knob to move the guides, then that screw is locked by a setscrew. With the Rikon there are no adjusting knobs. I have trouble holding the guides in place exactly where I want them while trying to tighten the setscrews. I think the factory also over-tightened the guides originally, because the rods the bearings are mounted to have dimples in them from the tips of the setscrews- again makes it hard to get a precise adjustment. While I'm writing this, I'm thinking I may be able to improve that aspect by getting a set of nylon tipped setscrews.
