Hi Jody,

oops_sign Too late to edit now, but thread titles like "strap button placement" or "strap button installation" would net more hits. (nothing personal, just encouraging efficiency, good etiquette, and quicker response) [:Y:]

Oh, BTW, as you drill remember to watch out for metal in the heel, with bolt on necks, IE: Taylors, etc,

I like ot place mine on the underside of the heel arch. We've probably seen them attached to the heel cap ~ Don't like the way that looks really...

Treble side of the heel. I don't know why anyone would bother with anywhere else. I don't even like strap buttons myself though.

Treble side of the heel.

Folks like Mario are wise enough to install it on every guitar (if I'm remembering remember correctly). First to avoid someone making a bad choice of placement later, and perhaps more importantly to save the owner the grief of worrying about (gasp) - drilling a hole in their beautiful instrument and altering the original condition. I wish more builders did this.

Just remember to be aware of fastener locations if the neck joint is bolt on. There may still be a discussion on this that hasn't reached the archives yet.

Thanks everyone I new it would be a good idea to ask the pro's before doing the task, being a 70's martin I don't think there is metal in there , but I will be sure to look for bolts first , if even only to develope the habit ! Jody
