Just finished a new rosette. All natural wood colors-- macasser ebony, gaboon ebony, maple, basswood, jarrah, walnut. I'm happy with the way it came out, but I may change the center tile mosaic on the next one to smaller mosaic tiles. Thanks for looking.

Very nice Marc, I actually like the larger tiles, they give a better impression of the method of construction, something I always like in handmade things.

Colin and Clint, I'm really glad you like the 1mm tile size, I'm thinking I'll stick with it now.

Marc, here's another nod to the larger tiles.
I think the boldness is what you want with the otherwise dark coloration. And the remark about looking good from a distance was well said.

Marc, Great rosette! I concur with the others regarding the size of the tiles, I really like the bold look especially from a slight distance. The only thing I would do differently would be to send one of the herringbone borders in the other direction, which would give a slight bit more movement to the overall design.

Joshua, I’m glad you mentioned the wheat direction. I thought about it for a while --clockwise, counterclockwise, inside one direction, outside another, it was almost a coin flip. The same direction seemed to draw it together more and give it more continuity, opposite directions was more lively, as you say, gave it more movement, dynamics. I like both, the next one I’ll try opposite directions.
