...for good measure. Here's a speed build (less than a week) prototype of my next model called the Quatre. 25.7" scale length,2A Lutz top, Sapele from a local lumberyard B,S & neck. Salvaged Nara (I think) fingerboard & bridge. It's sounding so good so soon I think I'll put it in a gig bag and bring it along to the Miami show. -C |

Less than a week! My head is spinning. I don't care how it looks, plays, or sounds, everyone knows it can't be good if you built it that fast. Honestly, pics are to small, but it looks great and I am amazed at what you did in that time frame. Great work. Look forward to bigger pics and maybe a sound clip. Donovan |

A week, huh? Don't know how you did that. It takes me longer than that just to make up my mind. Those pics are fairly small, but it looks as cool as the others. Good luck at the show! Steve |

Sapele works like butter, it's a relatively simple body style, there is virtually no bling, I pre-make things like neck blocks, linings, neck blanks & fingerboards, and the finish is satin (no buffing) so the whole process is pretty streamlined. I think it's a good exercise sometimes to just plow on through one. It helps me think ahead to the next step(s) without the time to second guess myself. Kind of sharpens the instincts. My friend and mentor John Greven says the most important thing in building is to have a clear vision of where you're going, then choose the most efficient methods and proceed with confidence. Of course he's built something like 2 or 3000 guitars... even he's lost count. Those of you who will be in Miami are welcome to drop by and play it. I hope to get some sound clips from some of the pro players there, as well as their opinions. -C |
