Some folks say that the Scott Antes plans from LMI are braced too top heavy. What in particular would you change? I'm building a D-28 style and at the point where I'm going to cut the brace wood in the next couple days. I'm not going to put the popsicle brace in but instead install a brace that wedges in tightly between the neckblock and soundhole, something in the order that Bryan Kimsey advises. What's your opinion? |

The entire pattern is wrong. Toss it, and get yee the StewMac herringbone blueprint or the Martin dread print(same exact print) |

Antes plan isn't even close . The bracing is not correct and way too heavy. Martin bracing is 5/16 and the height is wrong also. Even the stew mac is off but it is closer than the antes. The martin print is also the same as the stewmac but with their name in the title block. Note that unless a print is marked "SCALE" the drawing is representational. Go by the numbers and not what you see. The print may infact be correct but don't count on it. Also if the print appears to be a copy , paper stretches so again don't trust your eyes , trust the numbers. john hall blues creek guitars. |

Oh, I was going to use prewar brace dimensions anyway. I measured my plans to make sure they were to scale and they measured ok. I couldn't think of any other way to build the external mold. |

There's not actually specific dimensions. The X brace was about 5/16 x 5/8. I was refering more to the pattern than the size though. here's a link about 'forward shifted bracing' http://www.stewmac.com/tradesecrets/ts0 ... clk=191731 |
