This quater for shop class i'm going to be building a simple neck thru explorer (electric). In the past i've used a bunch of different kinds of glue, some good and some bad. I'm still undecided and don't want this thing to fall apart at the seams so i need some outside input. What kinds of glue do you guys swear by?(types and brands). On a side note the neck is either going to be all sapele or all paduck laminated together with 2 pieces sitting on top of each other.

Not being an electric builder I may not be the right one to answer this but I would think you would want a reversible bond in case of future repair so I would think Hot Hide Glue first, Fish Glue and even Titebond original will work fine.

Titebond is good...but even elmers wood glue will work.

The main thing is to get good glue joints.

You do not need a reversible bond. On a neck through the most permanent bond is desirable. Hide glue is difficult to work with until you have a bunch of practice and has no advantages for this application. Titebond (Original, not II or III) will work fine and is easy to work with. You might also consider urea-formadehyde glue (Weldwood Plastic Resin Glue is an easy to find brand). It comes as a powder that you mix with water; it has the advantage of greater permanence and zero creep. Good jointing and clamping are important; get the help of your teacher.
